A Day Off

I had me a wee lie in until about 10 o’clock this morning. With the pressure of deadlines against the day job, the last couple of nights have seen me flop into bed exhausted. I slept solid and felt great for it this morning.

With renewed vitality and badly in need of a wee change of scenery from my desk, I took to the garden. The wind was blowing hard, but it was quite mild. I managed to get several large sacks full of the crap still lying in the garden, from when we chopped down the massive hedge along the side.

I gave the bunnies a good run out too, and watched them for a while after I had cleaned out their hutch and had a cup of tea.

I already knew I wasn’t going to see much of the Six Nations games live today, due to a meal with Gail’s family booked for the Peacock Inn, but I managed to catch some of the Wales versus Italy match before I had to start getting ready.

We met up at the Peacock Inn at 5pm; Me, Laura, and Gail, Gail’s folks, and her brother and his family. Haddock all round (for most) and after a day of not eating much at all, it was delicious. Fresh haddock with chips and peas, and a nice coating of salt, vinegar, and lemon. It really is the best fish in town.

Then Back to my in-laws for some drinks, in my case a few large whiskies, and lots of music and conversation. We left around midnight.

You’ll notice there was no writing today (other than this blog). It felt good, and deserved, so there’s no guilt.
