Drinking In The Sun

I write this with a sore head, a dry tongue, and a strong desire to be back in bed. But hey, you only live once, and yesterday was a fine day to be out on a wee tour of Edinburgh’s finest quaffing establishments with one’s friends.

It was pretty manic around the office for most of the day, so it was with much delight that I managed to sneak away early for once, and jumped on a bus from Canonmils up to the Royal Mile just after half past three. I met my pals in the World’s End pub and sank several cold bottles of Bud, before taking in a few more bars along the Mile, as we made our way slowly towards the Grassmarket.

It wasn’t the warmest but it was a beautiful sun that graced our ever growing confidence and gave the Grassmarket a warm glow, as we worked our way from The Last Drop pub, one by one, to the other end of the street.

We had a great laugh on our travels and when one of our other pals joined us half way through the evening it only made it better. At times, my stomach was sore from laughing.

By the time I got home I was more than aglow with the drink, and mindful I would have to get up today, I went to bed following a quick bite of leftover pizza and a cup of tea.

This morning, I am paying the price. I was late getting into the office and my shirt has somehow not managed to iron out properly. It’s not as sunny today, which kind of matches how I feel, and I’m praying that the day goes quickly and smoothly.
