I’m feeling it increasingly difficult to think about anything else apart from Wednesday’s gig. I’ll keep the full spiel for tomorrow’s post, but from yesterday morning into last night I saw an increase of my excitement levels ten fold.
I’ve had The Specials blaring out of my iPod almost constantly, and my PC speakers at home have heard nothing else since last week. Ska is coming to town in a way never before conceived; it’s more than a homecoming or an event, it’s a vindication of my life, my beliefs, and my longest held hopes. Put simply, this one gig means so much to me it’s hard to put into words. But I will try, and post the results here tomorrow morning.
At the last minute last night I scrapped the idea of putting out the first half of a new chapbook up for free download on the PSH Free-For-All on 1st May. I didn’t see the point in delivering something half complete that I’m not happy with. So I revised Selektion, which is a compilation e-chapbook of all my previous works of poetry, and will submit that instead.
The “Edinburgh e-book”, will continue as it is. It’s going to be a really good chapbook but only if I give it what it needs, and while I’m not short of poems for it, I still need a design concept and for there to be more editing. I’m not putting it out until it’s ready, but I will set a date once I know I have the substance down.
Looks like I’m not the only one delighted to see the back of Ghoulnet. In a comment left by a reader in my Bye Bye Ghoulnet entry a few days ago, it was brought to my attention that the new man responsible for operations over at Ezee Internet is, in fact, the same cowboy that ran Ghoulnet/GNHosting, a certain Mr Karl Gray!
Then, as I was writing this very post, another comment was posted by a reader: prior to being called Ghoulnet, the company was called – wait for it – EZEE INTERNET!!!
EZEE…Ghoulnet…GNHosting…EZEE – it’s a circle of devastation. I’m tempted to do more digging…
Thank you, ‘reservoir’ and ‘Lambretta’, for completing the picture. I’ll be completing the move out of their databases ASAP, and I hope anyone reading this doesn’t get involved with anyone trading under the names, Ghoulnet, GNHosting, or EZEE Internet. They are all one and the same.
Cheap and free e-books:
- Selektion – FREE!
- Brick by Brick – FREE!
- Silly Poems for Wee People Vol.1 – FREE!
- Fringe Fantastic – £3 (£5 OFF!!!)
- Poolside Poetry – £3 (£2 OFF!!!)

I don’t blame you being excited. I love The Specials too, and wish I could see them. Plus, as you said before, we/they never thought this would ever happen again. Enjoy the excitement and hope they’re not an anti-climax. I’m sure they won’t be, but just in case … 😉
As my hometown is Coventry, I must tell you I lived through the Ska era all through my teenage years. I saw all the concerts and was part of the throng dancing in the heaving crowds!….amazing times…..and with the likes of the Beat, Madness and Selector too. Just look at the video of ‘Too Much Too Young’ and you will see, yah I was there. But strangely enough, I’m not interested in the latest revival, no ticket, no interest?….am i crazy?……the homecoming at Ricoh here is going to be one hell of a gig that I’m going to miss. Enjoy the latest gig, have a great dance, cos you wont be able to stand still. I however have vivid memories to hold on to.
I’ll be at the Glasgow gig tonight. cannot wait…
