Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

Blink and you might miss it. That’s the phrase I could apply to 2010 such has been the ferocious pace it seems to have shot by. Either it’s a sign I’m starting to grow older and time is never on my side, or it’s a reminder from somewhere that I should be making sure to pack more fun and enjoyment into my life while I have it.

I think it’s the latter.

My pal, Devon, wrote in her blog on Wednesday, that when a bank cashier asked her what her New Year Resolution was, she answered: “Have more fun.” I couldn’t agree more. It’s a splendid way to look at life and I’m adding it to mine. Smiling, at the most very basic level, costs nothing after all.

Speaking of Devon, she’s recently moved house and has started up a garden journal. Get in there early and start following it, it’s going to be a fun read. It’s called Gratitude and Growth.

But back to 2010 and the end of a year of ups and downs. I don’t know what the percentage for either is, but it’s been a funny kind of year; the highs have been atmospheric and the lows have been deep – bi-polar on the fun scale.

Yesterday was my final day at the day job for 2010 – goodbye to that – and today is free. I’m meeting up with some folk later on for a few quiet drinks to see in the new year. It’s nothing fancy, just my closest friends and my family getting together to have fun, catch up, enjoy a natter and a wee drink and see in 2011. I couldn’t ask for more.

So this is me signing off. Goodbye 2010 and hello 2011. I hope you all have a great Hogmanay and when you wake up tomorrow, you are filled with hope and purpose, love and friendship – may 2011 be everything that you want it to be.

Love to all, Colin.
