Mad
Bit of a mad day at the Day Job. I’m managing to clear a backlog of work caused by several months of “deep dive” technical work, which is good to finally get off my plate and means I can start to re-prioritise new work coming through. Between that and having to deal with 3d party consultants and managing some change, it was quite a busy day.

Oasis
I met my wife for lunch at a wee spot near the Botanical Gardens that we go to occasionally. We park the car and sit and eat the sandwiches that I bring from the work canteen and have a chat. It’s nice. It’s neutral and away from both our workplaces so makes it into a nice wee oasis during the hectic nature of both our days.

Invariably, once the conversation has lilted about the latest nonsense that goes in at our respective day jobs, talk turns to more interesting things like writing and photography. All the better, I say.

New Writing
My evening was given over to some new writing. I started work on a commissioned piece (it’s not what you think and a different kind of job entirely) and it is proving to be the toughest couple of pages I think I have ever written in my life. I know what I want to write and I know how it should sound, but every draft comes out skewed and I’ve not been happy with any of it.

Finding the perfect version is likely to be a few tough hours down the line. It’s going to take a lot of work, a lot of thought and a lot of soul-searching, and I think it’s probably going to end up being an amalgam of previous drafts been and ones to come – but it will come.
