Onwards and Upwards

If you don’t like the wind and the rain, the last couple of days will have been utterly miserable for you here in Scotland. If, however, you quite enjoy the sound and effect of the wind and rain, Edinburgh is the place to be.

Seems straight forward enough!

I fall into the latter group. I like the wind and the rain. As the Big Yin always said: “There’s no such thing as bad weather; just the wrong clothes.”

I was on a half day again yesterday, which meant I could work in the PM around my daughter’s studying. Plenty done, with SLICK making more progress towards its destination, and after an early evening meeting, some work on SILLY POEMS FOR WEE PEOPLE.

I’d collected the originals and CD with all the scanned illustrations at lunchtime, and when I got them home was delighted at the quality with which they had been transferred to digital. I spent the evening tidying them up, removing paint marks and shadows that had been transferred, so they are now ready for transferring into the final manuscript.

In between all of that, I met the illustrator on the project, the massively talented, Kamila Ratajzcak. I returned the originals to her and we spent a couple of hours catching up and talking about the projects we are both working on at the moment. No point in doing that without a drink, which was why we met in the Cameo Bar in Leith.

Not much else to report really. It’s all been about polishing SLICK and brushing up the illustrations for the ultimate revision of SILLY POEMS. Later today I’ll be publishing my November review of work, but until then, it’s onwards and upwards!
